"With more than 65 million Americans as caregivers providing care for a chronically ill, disabled or aged family member or friend, having the right resources can be vital.
As a medical doctor with more than 15 years of caregiving expertise I know it has never been harder to find and access affordable healthcare and a comprehensive support system family caregivers and their personal support network need today.
I am also a daughter with firsthand knowledge how difficult the passage to becoming a caregiver truly is. I believe hope is born from knowledge, knowledge transforms chaos into actions.
I wrote on dementia care when I recognized newly diagnosed patients and their families needed firm footing at the start, but also need a book that took caregivers to the final stages of the disease.Through a collaboration of experts and strategic partners in aging and caregiving as contributing authors – many with their own parent with dementia –we offer helpful information and education on services and strategies for caregiving. It is a must have first book for dementia care and a listed resource with the national Alzhiemers Association. It is available in spanish as well.
The website, hopethroughknowledge.org is a volunteer humanitarian project with monthly newsletter and radioprogram. Together with other experts in the field of aging we will encourage, inspire and uplift family caregivers not only helping those with dementia, but anyone with caregiving needs. Hope Through Knowledge Radio for Caregivers on blogralkradio has thousands of listeners with free downloads and you'll hear personal stories, professional interviews and learn of other valuable resources. Together with the monthly newsletters, and an interactive blog, this site will help you feel recognized and supported in your role as a caregiver. And most importantly, you'll discover that you are not alone."
